Launched in 2015, this scheme target both urban and rural areas so that everyone can have a solid, decent home to live in with basic amenities by 2025.
What is PMAY?
PMAY is like a big initiative runned by the Indian government, focused on providingpuccahouses (solid homes) for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG), Middle Income Group (MIG), and also for slum dwellers. The scheme has two main parts:
PMAY Urban (PMAY-U):For people living in towns, cities, urban areas.
PMAY Gramin (PMAY-G):For those in villages and rural India.
PM Awas Yojana 2025
Subsidy of up to 6.5% on home loan interest through Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) for EWS & LIG, and up to 3% for certain MIG categories.
Financial assistance for home construction, extension or renovation.
Preference to homes for women, transgenders, widows, senior citizens and disabled individuals. Usually, women need to be co-owner of house.
Subsidy given directly into bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Eco-friendly and disaster-resistant construction technology encouraged for PMAY houses.
PMAY Gov In Targets
EWS (Economically Weaker Section): income up to ₹3 lakh/year
LIG (Low Income Group): income ₹3–6 lakh/year
MIG-I: income ₹6–12 lakh/year
MIG-II: income ₹12–18 lakh/year
PMAY Registration Eligibility Criteria
Quite a lot of peoples can apply but there are strict requirements
Income Criteria:The family’s annual income should be less than ₹18 lakh.
No Existing Home:Applicant and his/her family must not own any pucca house in any part of India.
Not Taken Any Housing Subsidy:Shouldn’t have received housing subsidy or benefit under any other government scheme earlier.
Woman Ownership:Usually, a woman has to be the house owner or co-owner (can be relaxed if no female in the family).
Property Limitation:Only one subsidy per family.
PMAY Application Status
Applicant must be Indian citizen.
For home improvements/extension, only EWS and LIG categories allowed.
The applicant can be from both urban and rural area under respective PMAY component.
Age should generally not be more than 70 years at time of loan maturity.

Sometimes, caste or minority certificate also needed for special categories.

Click on ‘Citizen Assessment’ and pick the right category for you (slum dweller, EWS/LIG, MIG).
Fill all your details: name, family info, Aadhaar, address, income proof etc.
Submit after OTP verification from your mobile.
Note your application number for tracking status.
PMAY Offline Registration
Go to nearest CSC (Common Service Center) or authorized bank branch.
Ask for, fill out, and submit official PMAY application form with documents.
Pay application fee (usually ₹25).
Track status later with your form number.
PMAY Components and Four Verticals
To reach “Housing For All” PMAY uses different strategies for different groups:
Beneficiary-Led Individual House Construction or Enhancement (BLC):Direct subsidy for self-construction or improvement (up to ₹1.5 lakh).
Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):Central assistance of ₹1.5 lakh per EWS house in partnership projects (public/private).
In-situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):Slum area redevelopment with private partnership.
Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):Subsidy on interest for loans.
PMAY Beneficiary Status
Launched in 2016, PMAY-G aims to provide pucca house with cooking space to rural families who live in kutcha or dilapidated houses.
The minimum house size is 25 sq.m.
Central and state governments share the fund in 60:40 ratio.
Money goes directly to beneficiary’s bank account.
