One Crore Households Benefited:The scheme targets installation of rooftop solar systems in one crore homes by March 2027.

Subsidy Support:The government provides a direct subsidy to reduce the installation cost substantially. For solar systems up to 2 kW capacity, a 60% subsidy on the solar unit cost is offered. For systems between 2 kW to 3 kW, a 40% subsidy on the additional system cost is provided, capped at 3 kW.
Cost Savings:At benchmark prices, the subsidy can amount to INR 30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for a 2 kW system, and INR 78,000 for a 3 kW or higher system.
Reduced Electricity Bills:Once the solar system is installed, households can save significantly on their monthly electricity bills by using free solar power.
Employment Generation:The scheme also promotes solar technician training, expecting to create around 1 lakh skilled jobs in the solar sector.
Environment Friendly:It will lead to a reduction of 720 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions over the next 25 years contributing to India’s climate goals.
